Manager

Andrei was born and raised in Westchester County, NY. Throughout high school and college, Andrei spent his summers working at a family-owned plant nursery, where he began an interest in gardening and sustainable agricultural practices. Andrei connected this interest with his passion for gastronomy when he traveled to Peru in 2010 and studied the cultural resurgence of heritage crop varieties featured in haute Peruvian cuisine. In 2013, Andrei began working for two farmers at the Union Square and Grand Army Plaza Greenmarkets. Andrei is committed to supporting local farmers and providing healthy eating options to all New Yorkers, and is always willing to swap recipes.

On June 15th, GrowNYC's Project Farmhouse hosted the first in our Chef Seasonal Dinner Series with top chefs from Del Posto, Gramercy Tavern, Oceana, Gotham Bar and Grill, and Grand Banks.

  • Greenmarket

Our network of farmers markets, Youthmarkets, Fresh Food Box pick-ups, and Greenmarket Co. ensures that all New Yorkers have access to the freshest, healthiest local food.

  • Recycle

We blanket the five boroughs with resources like textile and food scrap collection, Stop 'N' Swaps, and free training to make waste reduction easy for all.

  • Garden

We build and rejuvenate community & school gardens in all 5 boroughs, and support even more gardens through volunteer days, technical assistance, school garden grants, & more.

  • Teach

We foster future environmental stewards by providing 60,000 children each year with programs that provide meaningful interactions with the natural environment.
