Our network of farmers markets, Youthmarkets, Fresh Food Box pick-ups, and Greenmarket Co. ensures that all New Yorkers have access to the freshest, healthiest local food.
Each week during the height of the season, farmers from 38 Greenmarkets donate their fresh fruits and vegetables to local food pantries, homeless facilities, soup kitchens, and community centers in all 5 boroughs. In 2015, our farmers donated nearly 1,000,000 pounds of food!
Greenmarket also partners with City Harvest, New York City Coalition Against Hunger and Food Bank for New York City to distribute locally grown food from Greenmarkets to food pantries across the city.
By connecting regional farmers with in-need New Yorkers, Greenmarket, City Harvest, New York City Coalition Against Hunger and Food Bank for New York City, are helping to address hunger and build community around healthy, local foods.
