Food access at GrowNYC markets All GrowNYC market locations accept SNAP EBT and other nutrition benefits to make fresh food accessible for all

GrowNYC was one of the nation’s first farmers market operators to accept electronic government food benefits, such as Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT). This system allows Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants to purchase food from farmers.

We convert nutrition benefits like SNAP EBT into wooden tokens and market currencies, which customers can then use to buy fresh and healthy food. Learn more by exploring our benefits guide!

Food For Families Partners

We partner with elected officials, nonprofits, and community groups to expand our reach and feed more New Yorkers.

  • You can find your nearest seasonal and year-round markets by exploring our location finder at https://grownyc.org/locations/

  • Greenmarket Bucks are $2 paper coupons that can be used to purchase products at any of GrowNYC’s Markets and Food Retail Sites. They are intended to introduce new customers to the fresh foods available at Greenmarket farmers markets and Farmstand locations and increase revenue for producers. Greenmarket Bucks come in three varieties: one for any product, another for any edible product except alcohol, and the third for fresh fruits and vegetables only. There is no cost difference between the varieties of Greenmarket Bucks. Partners can choose the type of Greenmarket Buck that is right for their program.

  • Greenmarket Bucks expire on December 31st, the end of the calendar year. Unspent Greenmarket Bucks cannot be exchanged or refunded.

  • Please contact our Food Access Initiatives team at fai@grownyc.org

  • FMNP checks can be used at all GrowNYC Greenmarket locations. Look for farmers displaying the FMNP authorization sign at their stand. All farmers who sell fresh fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, and herbs at Greenmarket are required to accept FMNP checks.
