About Greenmarket Farmers & Producers

With over 50 Greenmarkets operating in all five boroughs of New York City, residents have the opportunity to get to know the regional farmers who grow the seasonal food offered at our neighborhood farmers markets. Each market site represents a relationship between Greenmarket and the community who supports it, providing a space for neighbors to engage with one another, appreciate the changing of the seasons, and the smells and flavors that turn market days into an outpouring of neighborhood pride. Our producer-only markets ensure full traceability, which means the proteins, produce, and baked goods you purchase directly from our vendors can be traced to the hands and land where they were grown. The flavor of a peach picked just hours before its brought to market is unparalleled, not to mention its superior nutritional value. Keeping family farms in production maintains genetic diversity, preserves open space, and is better for the environment, which means spending your food dollars at farmers markets is both a better choice for your family today, and a long-term investment for future generations.

Every year, GrowNYC holds our Annual Spring Plant Sale in order to provide community groups with affordable perennial and annual flowering plants, herbs, ground covers, and vegetables grown by Greenmarket farmers and sold in wholesale quantities.
