Greenmarket Youth Education

Greenmarket K-12 school tours are paused this fall. However, you can take tour students on a self-guided tour at any of our weekday Greenmarkets or you can watch a virtual tour of the Union Square Greenmarket in your classroom. You may also check out GrowNYC’s Distance Learning Page for more resources you can use with your students.

If you are a teacher or family interested in introducing your students or children to regional agriculture and sustainable farming, here are a few other useful resources:

Every day, GrowNYC employees see first-hand the impact they have on the environment and the lives of New Yorkers in all five boroughs. Join our team!

  • Food Access & Agriculture

Our network of Greenmarket farmers markets, Farmstands, and Fresh Food Box sites, coupled with GrowNYC Wholesale, ensures that all New Yorkers have access to the freshest, healthiest local food.

  • Zero Waste

We provide food scrap drop-offs, clothing collections, Stop 'N' Swap® community reuse events, and zero waste trainings to make resource conservation easy for all.

  • Green Space

We build and rejuvenate community gardens and urban farms in all 5 boroughs, and support even more gardens through volunteer days, technical assistance, school garden grants, & more.

  • Education

We foster future environmental stewards by providing 66,000 children each year with programs that provide meaningful interactions with the natural environment.
