Technical Assistance

Financial and Business Planning
Developing and analyzing balance sheets, cash flows, and income statements is a vital part of running a business. Farmer Assistance staff works both in-house and with consultants to help farmers develop financial record keeping systems that maintain up-to-date financial statements. Staff and consultants work with producers to weigh new products, marketing channels, capital purchases, and other business decisions in the form of a written business plan. Legal Assistance
Many farmers struggle to find affordable and manageable legal counsel. Farmer Assistance works with a range of attorneys to offer Greenmarket producers assistance in business incorporation, contract negotiation, farm wills, lease development and many other small business and agriculturally related issues. Farmer Assistance is proud to offer a 75/25 cost sharing structure for all legal fees related to land purchase, rental, or sale. Strategic Marketing Enhancements
Farmer Assistance works with approximately 10 Greenmarket farmers each year on marketing projects designed to increase sales and marketing efficiencies. Previous project focus areas include market channel assessment (to determine the right mix of sales channels for your farm), visual display enhancement at market, logo and brand development, website and social media growth, customer service, loyalty program creation, and others. Our strategic marketing enhancement project provides free access to graphic designers and merchandising materials. Click here to view our recent marketing publication.

Access to Capital
A wide range of capital options exist for farm businesses, from Federal loans to crowdfunding campaigns. Farmer Assistance will work with your business to help understand the funding options available to you, and the best capital match for your business development.
