Each week during the height of the season, farmers from 35 Greenmarkets donate their fresh fruits and vegetables to local food pantries, homeless facilities, soup kitchens, and community centers in all 5 boroughs. In 2011, our farmers donated nearly 825,435 pounds of food!

Since 1983, Greenmarket has partnered with City Harvest to distribute locally grown food from Greenmarkets to food pantries across the city. In 2008, the New York City Coalition Against Hunger and Greenmarket identified additional opportunities to donate produce and feed hungry New Yorkers.

By connecting regional farmers with in-need New Yorkers, Greenmarket, the NYCCAH, and City Harvest are helping to address hunger and build community around healthy, local foods.
