Greenmarket Farmers Markets

Greenmarket was founded in 1976 with a two-fold mission: to promote regional agriculture by providing small family farms the opportunity to sell their locally grown products directly to consumers, and to ensure that all New Yorkers have access to the freshest, most nutritious locally grown food the region has to offer. Today our programming includes Greenmarket Co., Youthmarket, Fresh Food Box, and the Wholesale Greenmarket.

How Can We Help You?

I am a shopper looking for fresh, healthy, local food:

I am a buyer looking for food in wholesale quantities:

  • GrowNYC’s food hub and delivery service, Greenmarket Co., supports regional food producers by making their products available to wholesale buyers throughout the city. Learn how to participate.
  • Visit the Wholesale Greenmarket in Hunts Point, Bronx.

I am a farmer:

I am interested in education:

I am a member of the media:

  • View recent stories and contact our press department
  • Read our guidelines for filming at Greenmarket (coming soon!)

I want to support Greenmarket:

  • Become a volunteer!
  • Corporate and nonprofit partners can purchase Greenmarket Bucks to distribute to staff and volunteers to purchase healthy, local food.
  • Donate! GrowNYC is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
  • Visit our online shop.

Inclement weather in the city or in the greater region does affect markets;  markets may close early, or snow-bound farmers may not be able to make it into the city.

  • Greenmarket

Our network of farmers markets, Youthmarkets, Fresh Food Box pick-ups, and Greenmarket Co. ensures that all New Yorkers have access to the freshest, healthiest local food.

  • Recycle

We blanket the five boroughs with resources like textile and food scrap collection, Stop 'N' Swaps, and free training to make waste reduction easy for all.

  • Garden

We build and support community and school gardens through tool loans, volunteer days, technical assistance, training, school garden grants and more.

  • Educate

We foster future environmental stewards by providing 60,000 children each year with programs that provide meaningful interactions with the natural environment.
