A New York native, Jessi Erian Colon was raised in Brooklyn and now resides in midtown Manhattan. Her exposure to healthy consumption began with her mother, the neighborhood health food store, and the Brooklyn Borough Hall Greenmarket. After working with Bobolink Dairy at Union Square, she decided she needed even more Greenmarket in her life, leading her to pursue this exciting managerial position. Jessi is honored to be working with the Greenmarket team, and hopes that her work will contribute to health and wealth of her community and the earth. When she isn't at the market, she can be found dancing around the city, or working towards New York's animals living better lives. |

After graduating from NYU with degrees in journalism and food studies, Chicago native Jamie Feldmar decided to bring a little green into her urban lifestyle. She has worked with Slow Food USA, The James Beard Foundation, and the Edible Communities magazine series, and hopes that working with Greenmarket will give her some stellar story ideas. Jamie consistently gravitates toward the smelliest foods at the market, like spring garlic, onions, and runny cheese. |

Last year this market moved out of the school yard onto beautiful, tree-lined Columbus Avenue, which has enabled us to dramatically expand our offerings, keep the market open longer and welcome more people. This year we are expanding again and the market will now run from 79th St to 80th St. Thanks to our additional space, several new producers will join the already popular Grazin' Angus Acres grass-fed meats, Milk Thistle organic milk, American Seafood, Valley Shepherd sheep's milk cheeses, and Knoll Krest Farms. New additions include Long Island's American Seafood, Gajeski Farms, 5lbs of Dirt, Ardith Mae Goat Cheese, grains and breads from Cayuga Pure Organics and Featheridge Farm. Regulars Emmerich Greenhouses, Pet-Al flowers and Trumansburg Trees transform the market into a bountiful garden every week. Tree-licious and Terhune orchards provide apples, cider and farm baked goods all year round and a selection of other seasonal fruits. D+J organics supplies the market with organic greens and Asian specialty products all year round. From May – November, Kernan Farms and Berried Treasures have foraged greens, seasonal fruits and a large variety of potatoes. Berkshire Berries provide NYC roof-top honey, as well as a variety of jams and jellies and maple syrup. |
Community activities, cooking demonstrations and recipe exchanges will add to the diverse nature of this market.

Safiya has always loved farmers markets, and makes it a point to discover a market wherever she may find herself stationed in the world. Though this city dweller has absolutely no farming background, her eating background is quite extensive. She can’t wait for plums! Her time in the food service industry and shopping the markets looking for the tastiest vittles, has prepared her for a season promoting local eating in her East Harlem/Upper East Side community. The infamous ditty once piped that “Everybody Eats,” and farmers markets are sacred little pockets of humanity that come together for sustenance. The tradition of markets is strong all around the world and across all cultures, and seeing it culminate in the richness of New York City is truly inspiring. |

Originally from Florida, Craig Willingham grew up around Orange Groves and fresh produce. Now a New Yorker for a number of years, he is in the middle of an academic career focused on nutrition and public health. He also works as a science educator at schools around the city. His hope is to use his experiences to help shape public policy and perceptions around food and thinks that working for Greenmarket is a great step in that direction. |

Jacqui Roytman has been a performing arts teacher in the Tri-state area for more than 25 years. She lives in Bay Ridge with her family and is extremely excited about the new interest and participation in the eco -friendly, green projects growing rapidly in her neighborhood. Jacqui wanted to manage the Bay Ridge market in order to stand along side her neighbors in supporting the greenmarket's mission; local farms, local food, great community! |
