Learn It, Grow It, Eat It

Learn It, Grow It, Eat It is helping teens make the connection between food, health, and the environment.

We offer hands-on nutrition and horticulture classes on how to grow vegetables but most importantly we are growing teenagers - giving them skills and life experiences that they can take with them to college, the job market, and beyond. And they walk away proud having given something back to their community as good food/good health ambassadors. We are based in four high schools in the Morrisania section of the Bronx - a neighborhood with some of the city's highest obesity, diabetes, and youth unemployment rates.

From the senior gardeners they plant alongside, to the neighbors they teach about a diet high in sugar and fat, to the guest career counselors who open their eyes to new possibilities, to learning to work with one another, regardless of what language they speak, to run a busy farm stand, maintain three gardens and complete projects, the internship has the potential to change lives. We know from many of our graduates, it has.
