The Educated Eater 2008

Did you know that a chicken who lived in a tiny cage, pumped with anti-biotics and steroids, can be labeled natural? Greenmarket is sponsoring an expert panel discussion / Q&A that asks what natural really means (not much!), whether uncertified organic or beyond organic are claims you can trust (that depends), and how to navigate the proliferation of terms from cage-free to grass-fed (and who controls the language).

Saturday November 22, 2008, 2PM to 3PM

Cost: $5

Inclement weather in the city or in the greater region does affect markets;  markets may close early, or snow-bound farmers may not be able to make it into the city.

  • Greenmarket

Our network of farmers markets, Youthmarkets, Fresh Food Box pick-ups, and Greenmarket Co. ensures that all New Yorkers have access to the freshest, healthiest local food.

  • Recycle

We blanket the five boroughs with resources like textile and food scrap collection, Stop 'N' Swaps, and free training to make waste reduction easy for all.

  • Garden

We build and support community and school gardens through tool loans, volunteer days, technical assistance, training, school garden grants and more.

  • Educate

We foster future environmental stewards by providing 60,000 children each year with programs that provide meaningful interactions with the natural environment.
